I don’t know how I’ll do it, but I will do it. I will be talking about the following categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. I will reflect on the winners right after they are announced. You can check out my Oscar predictions here and see which Oscar nominated film I recommended this week here.Īlso, don’t forget that I will be discussing the Oscars LIVE! I’ll be watching the ceremony live (note that I live in Europe and that means getting up at 3a.m….) and commenting on Our Movie Life. Not only should he have gotten nominated, he should have won the Oscar all together!Īnyway guys, this is it! I hope you liked this article! It’s part of my Oscar week here on Our Movie Life. In my opinion, his performance as Ray in ‘Nocturnal Animals’ was the best performance of 2016. He was amazing!!! I cant believe I’m one of the few people who think so. And now… the biggest snub of this movie and of the Oscars overall… Aaron-Taylor Johnson. He’s good, but I think the film deserves recognition in all of the categories mentioned above more than he does for his performance. Michael Shannon was the only actor that got a nomination for his role in ‘Nocturnal Animals’. Amy Adams, however, was astonishing and got absolutely snubbed (both for this and ‘Arrival’). When it comes to the acting in the production, I thought Jake Gyllenhaal was good, but honestly, there are other actors this year more worthy of a nomination for Best Actor and I’m not arguing for anything here. I’m not insisting on a nomination in those two categories, but it wouldn’t have been too bad. Next, I wouldn’t have been too mad if the movie was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Editing. I was expecting ‘Nocturnal Animals’ to get snubbed, but I at least thought the Academy would realize how well this film is directed… I’m really disappointed and actually surprised that Tom Ford didn’t get a nomination. ‘Nocturnal Animals’ also definitely should have gotten some recognition for it’s direction, which was flawless. Also, the story is fantastic, it’s original and coherent and the narrative is one of a kind, so the movie should have gotten a nomination for Best Screenplay. And I’m really surprised that happened too because this production has the vibe, feeling, and plot that the Academy loves and it usually awards movies like ‘Nocturnal Animals’ with at least a nomination. Obviously, I think it’s a big snub that it wasn’t nominated for Best Picture. I know I’ve been going on and on about that movie lately (it’s my favorite film of 2016 and you can check out the review I wrote here), but that’s only because it’s that good! Honestly, even if people don’t think that this production is the best film of 2016, it still deserves at least a nominations in so many categories. So, instead I’m gonna let you know what movie I think got screwed the most this year. I barely squeezed an hour from my schedule to write this (and I’m doing so sitting on a bench in a random building, just saying). Sadly, I’ve been swamped lately and thus I simply don’t have the time to write something long like that today. I know I promised to write a long article today about the biggest snubs and biggest surprises of this year’s Oscar nominations.
